Denyse F. Gouveia

Board Member

Ms. Denyse F. Gouveia, Attorney at Law, earned a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at The University of the West Indies and her Legal Education Certificate at Hugh Wooding Law School after which she was presented to the Bar in Trinidad and Tobago by Karl Hudson-Phillips Q.C. That launched a career in which Family Law featured prominently. When the Family Court first opened in 2004, five of the first ten matters filed there were handled by Ms. Gouveia.

She has represented clients from the length and breadth of the country in Family Court – from San Fernando to Tobago to Arima to Sangre Grande. She has admirably represented her clients, ensuring they found peace of mind, and, crucially, justice, especially with regard to children. Ms. Gouveia’s sense of duty to the Courts and the law led her to create and lead a group in which she mentors young attorneys. She was also a tutor at the Hugh Wooding Law School for a period of two years.
