Children’s Authority responds to videos on social media

Date: 2015-11-11

The Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago finds the content of videos circulating on social media, which involve children, very disturbing.

Once the videos were brought to our attention, the Authority contacted the Child Protection Unit of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to conduct investigations. The Authority’s Emergency Response Team has been placed on standby to support the CPU as necessary.

In keeping with the established process, if it is determined that the children are in need of care and protection, the Authority will intervene as appropriate in the best interest of the children.

Meanwhile, the Authority is reminding the public that child protection is everybody’s business. Therefore, the Authority is appealing to the public to report videos of child abuse to the Police.
